Just a man collecting stories
between survival and sunset.
Hello.
My name is Rashid Jatu, though many know me as aaRJay.
But this is not a page about a name. It is about a journey.
For most of my life, I never quite fit into the boxes the world offered. I was too practical for dreamers, too emotional for businessmen, too rebellious for tradition, and too traditional for rebellion.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped trying to fit. That is where Misfit Soul was born.
I am a businessman by profession, an entrepreneur by instinct, a storyteller at heart, and a student of life by choice.
"An entrepreneur is someone who jumps off a cliff and builds a plane before landing."
— A favourite definitionThat sentence has described much of my life.
My days are often spent around boardrooms, workshops, dealerships, targets, numbers, and deadlines in the automobile industry. Yet behind all of that lives a man who finds equal meaning in design, poetry, silence, sunsets, faith, old songs, roadside chai, and conversations that stay with you long after they end.
I have always been fascinated by the art of creating things. Sometimes that means building businesses. Sometimes it means designing spaces, brands, graphics, ideas, or experiences. And sometimes it simply means putting thoughts into words and hoping they find a home in someone else's heart.
I am also unapologetically addicted to two things that have fueled more ideas than I care to admit — coffee and perfumes.
One keeps me awake.
The other keeps memories alive.
A good cup of coffee can start a conversation. A great fragrance can transport you back to a moment you thought you had forgotten. Both have taught me that the smallest details often leave the deepest impressions.
This blog is not built around expertise. It is built around experience.
Here, you will find stories of people, lessons from business, reflections on love, observations about life, moments of failure, gratitude, faith, recovery, resilience, and the strange beauty that exists in ordinary days.
Some posts may make you smile.
Some may make you uncomfortable.
A few may remind you of a version of yourself you thought you had forgotten.
And if that happens, then this blog has served its purpose.
The truth is, life has taught me that success is not measured only by what we build, own, or achieve. It is also measured by what we survive.
The storms we walk through.
The people we love.
The scars we carry.
And the kindness we choose despite them.
Misfit Soul is not a brand. It is not a business. It is not an attempt to impress anyone. It is simply a corner of the internet where I intend to be unapologetically honest.
A place where ambition can sit beside vulnerability.
Where faith can coexist with doubt.
Where strength can exist without noise.
And where being different is not a weakness, but a gift.
If you have ever felt out of place,
if you have ever loved deeply,
if you have ever rebuilt yourself after being broken,
if you have ever chosen hope when it would have been easier to quit —
then perhaps you are a Misfit Soul too.
Welcome. Pull up a chair. The coffee is usually hot, the stories are real, and the journey is just beginning.
